Welcome to Strategy Editing in BIP Visualized. This video shows how to customize a visual behavior strategy so it reflects a specific learner, family, and real-life situation. You’ll see how to start from the Strategies library or from within a behavior plan, then open a strategy and click edit to make changes.
Step 1: Choose a Strategy to Customize
Begin by selecting a strategy from the Strategies library or by opening a strategy already added to a behavior plan. Strategies can be dragged and dropped into a plan at any time.
Step 2: Edit Images and Text
Once in edit mode, you can replace illustrations with your own images and update the text to match what the learner and family will actually see and do. This helps make expectations concrete and easy to recognize.
Step 3: Show What Success Looks Like
You can visually represent what happens when the strategy works, including alternative choices, next steps, or “yes when” options. This helps teams and families understand what to do instead of only what to avoid.
Step 4: Update the Strategy Title and Thumbnail
Rename the strategy to be more specific to the learner and adjust the thumbnail image so it’s easy to identify when building or reviewing a plan.
Step 5: Save and Use Anywhere
Once saved, the customized strategy becomes part of your collection. It can be reused in behavior plans, shared with families, teachers, and behavior staff, and included in visual BIPs.
Designed for Real Teams
Customized strategies help teams see exactly what a recommendation looks like in practice. Instead of generic guidance, everyone has a shared, visual understanding they can follow with confidence.
