# Create images with the AI image generator

Generate a custom picture of a learner for a strategy, BIP cover or thumbnail.

You can generate an image anywhere you see **Generate** or **Generate with AI**: a BIP cover, a strategy thumbnail or a step card image.

### **Start from a strategy**

1.  In the **Strategy Library**, click a strategy, then **View & Customize**.
    
2.  Click **Edit** to make your own copy. Then click **Edit** on a step card and click **Generate**.
    

### **Build the scene**

1.  Under **Main Character**, click **Add Character**. Scroll to see all characters.
    
2.  Click **Filters** to narrow by **Gender** (Male, Female), **Age** (Child, Teen, Adult) and **Skin tone** (Light, Light-Medium, Medium, Tan, Deep). **Clear all** resets them.
    
3.  Pick a character and click **Save**.
    
4.  Describe what the character is doing. Be specific and literal, for example "sitting at a desk, raising one hand".
    
5.  Need a second person, like a teacher or parent? Under **Additional Character**, click **Add Character**, pick one and describe what they are doing. Leave it blank for a single-character scene.
    
6.  Fill in **Location** and any **Objects**.
    
7.  Click **Generate Image**. It takes up to a minute.
    
8.  Not quite right? Click **Re-generate**, or **Edit Image** and describe the change (for example "add glasses").
    
9.  Drag and zoom to frame it, then click **Implement**.
    
10.  Click **Save** on the panel, and **Save** on the strategy or BIP.
     

> **Info:** We never send learner names or personal details to the image tool. Describe the scene, not the person.
